  Why does this Illinois high school have a confederate flag in the library? 

  Why did they make Allison look like that and why did they force a romance 20 minutes before the film ended? 

  
  This whole film seems as if John Hughes’ brain got one tapped by Reagan conservatism and made a really retarded film that doesn’t know what it wants to be. It’s definitely his weakest, especially compared to the colossus of Ferris Bueller and almost everything else in his filmography. Literal nothing burger that serves as a neuralogical anesthetic for an hour thirty.
