The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes 2023
Very true to the book, felt great to return to Panem on the big screen. Score was excellent and so were the original songs. Rachel Zegler knocked it out of the park as Lucy Gray. Tom Blythe & Hunter Schaefer were incredible as the Snows too. Viola Davis was the other standout for me. Brought the evilness of Dr. Gaul from the book to life in a huge way. Stands on its own even though its a prequel.

The Holdovers 2023
Crisp videography and performances by the cast. Each character was profoundly lonely but managed to find connection albeit against their wills. Well written of humor to break up the difficult scenes. Shots of the wintry town and school coupled with the 70s aesthetic make the film cozy. Not your typical holiday movie - but a great one still.
