After reading the book, the film adaptation of The Shining left me severely disappointed. I tried to go into this movie without comparing it to the novel, but I feel like the movie leaves out so many important details that give context to the story. Jack’s history of alcoholism and anger issues, the overlooks shady and supernatural past, and Danny’s experience with the shine are all key aspects of the story that get completely glossed over in the film.
