The mythological Atlas was condemned to hold up the sky for eternity but this Atlas is like watching J.LO bench 100kg for an hour and a half. Unashamedly borrowing bits of Aliens, The Terminator, Pacific Rim and Avatar, this obvious J.LO publicity stunt tries to shape Jennifer Lopez into a wisecracking female bad ass. I will allow Sci-Fi to get away with a lot, but trying to get us to like her is just a bit too much.

La La Land 2016
To be honest, I didn’t understand this film. Then again, I wasn’t really watching it because I was on my laptop writing a killer review of Bullet Train. Apparently my teenage daughter cries a lot over this movie and my wife used to not like it, but now she does. Make of this what you will.

Finally, after 50 movie years we get to meet the Xenomorph Queen, one of the best movie monsters ever. This movie has everything, a sleazy evil company man with a secret agenda, plucky little girl survivor, heroic marines and untrustworthy androids to name just a few. Every movie needs a climactic battle and the fight between Ripley and the alien queen is second to none. When the roller door goes up and Ripley stomps out in the autoloader and yells “get away from her, you bitch!”, you know this mother vs mother beat down is on like donkey kong.
