The Menu 2022
Another conceptual horror film that just fell very flat to me. It is a subgenre that tries to dress up shallow abstracts as thoughtful and deep.
The Menu's trite "us vs them" struggle quickly devolved into a "them vs them vs me" struggle. In a film with so many players, only one character's motivations mattered. By the time that was clear, I was so frustrated that all willful suspension of disbelief fizzled away.Stylish, empty and overly cynical service industry porn, that could take a lesson from it's own cheeseburger allusion. 2/5

The Banshees of Inisherin 2022
"Your fat fingers killed me little donkey today." This is the moment where the Banshees of Inisherin protagonist Padraig catches up with my feelings towards his smug, egocentric ex-friend Colm. Although Colm is self-reverential, delusional, and boring as hell, he has decided to give up on Paddy because he is too "dull." Perfectly good movie, with great pictures and performances, but I couldn't shake the feeling the entire time that this should be a play. Colin Farrell shines in this one.

Zootopia 2016
DIsney really pulled it off with this one. Zootopia does not go down the far too often traveled trail of overwhelming sap and song that we find in most of Disney films. The moral of the story is simple and doesn't overshadow the main point of the film, which is being a fun whodunnit. Solid voice cast, animation, and script. Would recommend to anyone.
