  The movie was largely bad because it had stock characters, over-the-top performances, pretentious philosophical discussions, and pointless actions. Even the simplest events were exaggerated as if they were the most dramatic and destructive in the world, making the movie seem less believable. I doubt I'll be watching any more Bergman movies anytime soon.
