The Last Showgirl 2024
This film is beautifully flawed, just like its protagonist. Whilst it was cut off quickly and lacked substantial narrative depth I think it carries a meaningful essence that resonated with me. The portrayal of the show business world felt particularly relatable/familiar and I found myself feeling very sympathetic for Shelly almost crying with her. That said I wouldn’t watch it again.

what a remarkable adaptation of Peter Shaffer's play, it skilfully explores the moral dilemma of "curing" a mentally unstable youth. Peter Firth's disturbing portrayal of Alan Strang left me haunted even though i know the story and it made me question his true feelings towards horses 😳. Richard Burton masterfully depicts Dysart's inner conflict he creates an emotional connection with the audience which makes the ending even more compelling.Overall, I rate it 4.5 out of 5 the story means a lot to me.

I didn't establish any emotional bond with the characters, hence I couldn't feel any sympathy for them. The film seemed robotic, with certain writing and shots falling flat. The only part I enjoyed was the opening scene, which generated a bit of suspense, but overall, it felt like a waste of time.
