    THE RULING CLASS (1972)
    Dir: Peter Medak

The premise of the film is absolute gibberish and totally inconsequential. The methods, if any, are mad. The performances are exceptional, but I wonder if they are really performances. The film tosses convention out the window and dares the viewer to like it. Yet, it holds one's interest with a type of constipated fitfulness. What I'm trying to say is that I'm not sure what I really saw.

    YOU'LL LIKE MY MOTHER (1972)
    Dir: Lamont Johnson

For some reason I expected to see "edited for television" flashed on the screen as this film started. Then I remembered I was in a theater. I shouldn't have been and neither should have this film. It is a dreadful and dreary non-frightening psycho-horror film with so little tension that my goosebumps inverted. Oh yes, Patty Duke stars in the effort. Definitely a credit for her to forget.

My favorite game involved four or five of my toughest men (one of which would be given the feminine role to comfort the males during the tranquil moments) being surrounded by unsurmountable odds. After an hour or more of making glorious gun noises,…

--Unlocking the Zipper of the Mind--

Janet Leigh, clad in a bra which she threatens to pop out of and a slip which you strain to see through, walks about her room at the Bates Motel.

She is getting ready to take a shower. With the camera discreetly avoiding the obvious, Janet strips and steps under the running water. She is trying to wash away her sins and the water beats down sensuously on her…
