The Long Goodbye 1973
We’re so far removed from this cinematic era that I can’t help but feel like what people then perceived as “genre-redefining” has now come to be the norm - thus inviting a more tepid reaction than expected, as far as I’m concerned at least.
Bonus points for the weirdly intelligent kitty though, and for a plot twist that was as arbitrarily presented as it was unexpectedly engaging.
