Jaw on Floor… RIP Helmet Burger… what a performance… and Visconti never lost his touch. This is such a specific elaborate cinema of awe.

What Happened Was... 1994
If David Lynch got into making Romantic Comedies, What Happened Was wouldn’t be very far off from the result. Seeing Tom Noonan’s single directed film made me simultaneously overjoyed (finally watching this 90s indie gem) and bummed out (he never directed another feature). Special mention to Karen Sillas… she needed way more opportunities after this movie. What an odd weird little tension fest… with really dark humor (the reading of the children’s story is already an all-timer scene for me)…

Roadgames 1981
A Top 10 all-timer for me…. Aussploitation… check. Shipped in American talent (Keach has never been better and more charismatic, and Jamie Lee Oscar Winner Curtis elevating genre material as usual)… check. De Roche genre script… check. Richard Hitchcock Jr Franklin direction… check. Rear Window in a semi-truck is such a fresh update on Hitchcock. I adore this movie and have seen it countless times. Ps - Boswell is one of the best movie dogs of all time.

Felicia's Journey 1999
Just when you thought you had a handle on 1999, you get to Felicia’s Journey and realize Atom Egoyan and Bob Hoskins want some of that landmark year acclaim for themselves. What a dark quiet menacing little tale they weave here.
