I cannot believe we as a society failed to get this movie a sequel.
I think the amount I liked this proves how different my tastes in books and movies are. This script does everything I don’t like from fourth wing and acotar, but somehow making an actor say the lines in a silly voice makes it a lot more palatable.
The good: the performances are amazing, the sets and costumes are delightfully whimsical
The bad: the ‘to be continued’ of it all, the back lighting, the pacing, and honestly? the plot
The stage musical Wicked runs for 2h45m, including a 15 minute intermission. The film adaptation Wicked will ultimately run for 5h20m, plus a 1 year intermission (extrapolating from available data). This is half of a story, and it can’t stand up on its own.
