loved the first half an hour! and utterly obsessed with the suggestion that heaven would smell of fried onions - I believe this to be true 🧅❤️
but by the end, the fact that this film was commissioned to improve English/American post-war relations became glaringly obvious and eye-roll inducing. am I really meant to believe that the jury (victims of British colonialism) forgive England because "love rules the court"? nah.
undeniably beautiful filmmaking, it's a shame so much of it was wasted on imperialist tripe.
