Honestly this was the worst Scooby Doo film ever made. Although Sabrina Carpenter did play a very convincing Daphne, none of the other original characters were there, and the mystery was so unbelievably predictable. While the movie surpassed expectations overall, it fell into similar potholes that other recent Scooby-Doo installments have. Most egregious was the incorporation of Hanna Barbera characters that nobody recognizes because the primary audience for this film is far too young to remember them. Scooby-Doo! and the Samurai Sword 2009
Yikes. Although Daphne gets to be a martial arts queen, the rest of the movie is riddled with racist tropes about East Asia. The plot makes absolutely no sense. Interestingly, however, this film stars more Asian voice actors than Mulan (1998) does, so... do whatever you want with that information.

Scooby-Doo! & Batman: The Brave and the Bold 2018
Clearly, Joker (2019) was trying way too hard to be as good as this masterpiece. It was especially interesting to the the writers try and reconcile the "coolness" divide between a culturally significant, widely loved action hero with the lesser-known appeal of the character called "Batman".
