I Saw the TV Glow 2024
tremendous bit of filmmaking. surreal, sad, stunning to look at. I found myself getting lost in the allegory during the 3rd act, i don't know if that's because the film was a bit convoluted or because i just can't relate to what it's saying.

as others have noted, this feels directly ripped out of Tom Waits' Swordfishtrombone era notebook in the best way possible, there's even a few Waits needle drops in it; (Kommienszuspadt and Flowers Grave), so the creators knew it too... there's also a section with just horns playing and it sounds just like the horns in The French Inhaler by Warren Zevon, idk tho.

more interesting than enjoyable. the whole hidden camera thing fell flat for me, at least on an entertainment level. it's a great concept. an alien observing human nature, tied in with way it was filmed and the inexperienced actors... i get it, it's cool, it's clever, it's also a bit like watching CCTV footage for a lot of the film.
