The Boy and the Heron 2023
We went to see this in theaters last minute and it was a complete joy. It introduced us to the family dynamic of a widowed man remarrying into the same family his passed wife.
The boy ends up building a relationship with an unlikely friend or two and being able to heal through some trauma on an adventure. Loved this film, Ghibli did it again

Aliens vs Predator: Requiem 2007
I meant to watch the "Alien" universe in chronological order but accidentally watched Requiem before the original AvP.
This film had characters dropping left and right, I enjoyed the overall battle of one predator avenging his comrades after a mission went awol. One of the love interest getting shuriken'd in half was unexpected bit kind of hilarious
