Totally F***ed Up 1993
i usually cringe at others in their mid twenties who cling to the “adult baby” kind of self-infantilization (even when done in jest) but boy did this movie make me feel like a 25 year old teenager….
the miasma of the city, the suffocation of queer love unrequited, senseless brutality, how could you not be despondent
steven’s in and outs haven’t changed, everything is still totally f***ed up

yorgos is such a hack.
all style, no substance.
the way the writing handles gender is both reductively simple and confused with itself. the humour and tone is so blasé, it’s like the movie doesn’t even care if it challenges, questions beyond the trademark “shock” of a yorgos film’s dialogue and sexuality.
By the end, the socialist simulacrum has become a bourgeois surgeon, firmly closing her chapter of exploitation which is framed as enlightenment
