Fucking love seeing Indian culture in a horror movie, in a seemingly-competent movie at that.
It does follow a sort of "trodden down" path where even with new-ish ideas, ie indian-American culture, casting, reincarnation (which makes sense considering it's background)

Just like Encanto, I fucking love the accountability taken by the parental figures. This movie isn’t for me, I get that, but my god, if I’m not crying at the idea of having parents accept their mistakes and their choice in repressing parts of themselves…
