Damn. Our American experiment is full of conflicting emotions. These kids come from modest upbringings or were beset by tragedy and they see politics as the arena to place their ambition. And it’s both inspiring (“Hallelujah” at a talent show stirs emotions across generations) and terrifying (character assassination by social media).
And how do we reconcile that our hero idolizes that bandit Napoleon? Should these kids he playing value creation games instead of status ones?
Bring on Girls State.

I wish I enjoyed this as much as other reviewers here. I recall Bill Hader talking about a movie scene and asking rhetorically “why can’t you do that?” And I appreciate really going for that at every opportunity. But I just didn’t FEEL this one.
