Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

    ★★½

Strong worldbuilding — or, at least, the illusion of it — and good performances, especially from Eddie Redmayne and Zoë Kravitz.

Unfortunately, the story gets completely lost. Many components feel like they’re supposed to mean something — the vague familiarity of the Lestrange name, the significance of Ezra Miller’s character, the inclusion of Nagini — but remain too confusing to have much impact.

WILD how this got its own world at Epic Universe … and perhaps affirmation of the film’s rich production value despite a scatterbrained story.
