  very 1984, duh.
  this man is so so so SO stupid, impulsive, and deeply naive
  he is so uniquely self important and unlikeable that it overshadows the lovely themes and artistic directing. how can you focus on the pendantry of bureaucracy and horrors of a surveillance state when men like this are out there creating problems that they need to solve and draging a poor lesbian down with him just because he thinks she's pretty? or is this the point? and Gilliam is so genius as to highlight the IDIOCY of men?
