A fun farce with great dialog. So many familiar faces in roles that were new to me. Hepburn was the weak link when she tried to do anything but be charming and quick. Grant was adorable as the endlessly flexible mystery man. Beautiful film for the eyes and ears even with some clearly greenscreened locations.
I really like Jack Lemmon, he is just nervous good guy energy personified. Found myself more interested in 1960s NYC and the building then the plot. Everyone was a jerk. Did not understand Fran being in love with Sheldrake at all (perhaps he was a tiny bit kind to her in moments we didn't see on screen) but you don't get to choose who you fall for. If I was young and looking for a job back then I would have loved being an elevator jockey. Just the concept that someone special needed to push the buttons tickles me.
Cute story without real solid logic behind it. MacMurray and Stanwyck are great and did a lot of heavylifting to move through the less than logical parts of the story. The defense attorney was amazing. He cracked me up and I laughed quite a bit throughout the film. I'm clearly a sucker for really tall prosecutors and I fell for MacMurray fast.
