  This man should stop making movies and just make music videos instead.

  This is a deeply ignorant movie, out of touch with reality. Some scenes, especially a couple of Saldaña musical scenes, are very well shot and are very well paced and engaging visually. But the movie's contents are simply horribly handled. The director made absolutely no effort to tell a well developed, well researched, respectful story and you can absolutely tell.
  Not surprising from someone who picked Mexico for his story because "spanish is the language of inmigrants and poor people".

  Watching this movie is a bit of an odd experience because on one hand its a beautifully crafted, charming piece of art with a lovely story: full of wonderful music and writing more competent than many modern films. And on the other hand there are so many horror stories tied to its production its hard not to think about them
