  Spirited Away 2001

  This is simply my favorite movie ever. I still remember the first time watching it in my childhood bedroom, on a 9" TV with a rented VHS from Blockbuster. Watching it 20+ years later and I'm still sobbing at the train scene. What a miracle of filmmaking from top to bottom.

  Beetlejuice 1988

  I did it! I finally made it past the scene that made me, as a child, run away from this movie and not watch any further. (The closet scene with Geena Davis ~16 minutes into the movie.)

  I enjoyed this movie! It still scares me and made me uncomfortable but also I laughed and was entertained the whole time.

  Still not sure about that PG rating though.

  Recently I had a dream that I was visiting some emperor penguins at a zoo or whatever and I started crying -- full on sobbing -- because one was taller than me.

  That's only relevant for about 30 seconds of this movie but I felt like it was an important story to tell.

  Screw you, I absolutely LOVE these movies. It's just straight serotonin injected into my brain. Incredible use of texture in the animation, catchy songs, saccharine sweetness that makes me feel good, and Anna Kendrick. That's really all I need.
