Long Live Helga Hellman!!!!
A deep dive into obsession, passion, sex and fear. Absolute cinema.
Also I quit the Alamo after getting out of this movie, fuck that place.
this movie is pretty fucking awesome, it makes sense that one of the best superhero films made was also one of the first major hits. there is so much funny humor and witty performances that make the whole thing work while showing off a lot of the tropes and virtues that make a superhero film, a superhero film. Brando, Reeves and Hackman are great, and put in really good performances that know to not take themselves too seriously. they understand…

suffers from some of what i didn’t like about the first one but absolutely kills everything i liked about the first.
this is an absolute vfx triumph, insanely cool effects and art direction (especially the harkonnen planet despite that section being so brief). the sound design is also some of the best ive ever heard, seeing it in IMAX is definitely worth.
I think the attempts at some more emotion kinda fall flat and the romance between paul and chani…
Aftersun is an incredible debut from Wells, one of the only movies this year that made me want to write my thoughts down, a poignant approach to memory, childhood, innocence and family that no other movie has been able to replicate for me with such authenticity. Bravo
I don't know how he did it but Sean Wang distilled my childhood into a 93-minute banger of a movie. he perfectly replicates the feelings of naive hopelessness and angst, as well as the lightbulb a-ha moments where you genuinely start to learn about yourself for the first time. he manages to make these experiences a little overdramatic too while keeping the feeling of each scene grounded sensibly. the setting is so perfect and fits so well even though I…

You think because you let them tar and feather you that the world will forgive you……..?
I saw this yesterday for the first time and really didn't know what to say so i left my review silly. I knew I needed to see it again to fully think about how this movie makes me feel. No other movie has given me this overwhelming sense of dread before, and I FUCKING LOVE IT. This character piece, somehow being a 3hr courtroom-drama…
I know this sounds crazy but hear me out, it needs more. This was fantastic, packed to the brim with insane and amazing content that Damien Chazelle clearly poured his heart and soul into. I loved nearly every minute of this, especially that ending. I loved the characters, their interactions, the writing, the visuals, the set pieces it was all so grand and so worth the 3 hour runtime. I only wish we got a little bit more from Diego…
What have I been missing out on. This was magical, so much fun and Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling have impeccable chemistry. The music is so good, the colors are amazing, the cinematography, all of it. I loved just about every second of this.
(I forgot to add this but seeing it in a theater was great too, thank you Alamo Drafthouse)
And well, I just hope that you learn to be happy. Okay?
this is softcore porn that makes you cry.
following up that incredibly reductive statement, this is one of the best uses of subtext and tonal contrast i’ve ever seen. this movie has obviously inspired so many movies that are in my favorites list of the last 5 years and i absolutely understand why. Diego Luna, Maribel Verdú and Gael García Bernal have such incredible chemistry and play off…
