I’ve been a fan of the Dune book series since I was a teenager. Villenueve’s adaptation of the first book is a masterpiece. Though I wish that both movies had gone into the ecological message in the novel, I get why Denis omitted those parts. On another note, I think that people are walking away from these movies mistakenly thinking that Paul is your typical messianic character, and that’s why I hope that Denis gets to complete “Messiah” and goes on to work on “Children of Dune” as well.
It’s a superhero movie. It has a plot, characters, and things go boom. Honestly, if they stopped making superhero films altogether, I’d be ok with that.
“the Book of Clarence” is a biblical comedy that focuses on the exploits of a false messiah in 33 AD Jerusalem who’s simultaneously competing with Jesus of Nazareth for followers. Indebted to a loan shark, Clarence, the movie’s protagonist, intends to use his burgeoning following to raise funds to pay off his debt while also seeking to become a somebody rather than end up as a nobody.
