    when i first watched this i was so high i got scared but watching it with the boys drinking some asahis made for the perfect viewing experience. in a world where everyone is trying to remake the same six movies this is a testament to the potential of 21st century bro filmmaking.

    Random Criterion Channel selection. Incredibly hot and devastating realism. Shot so honestly, desperately, all characters radiating an almost paralyzing desire for connection. Hypnotic from the opening shot of lotuses in rain. Chen Sicheng such a heartbreaker in this. Whole thing the tone of heavy clouds in the middle of day. Best karaoke scene, made me weepy for love + friendship. I don’t mind how fuzzy and gray this is. Such is life. So much unfolding subtextually, I love being shown…
