Really Love 2020
I enjoyed the simplicity of Really Love. There were really interesting ideas in the Q&A that I wish would have come across on screen and in the script. Visually it was it stunning and that score was beautiful. The Gogo, the Goldlink cameo,Ari Lennox are little references to DC. It's an enjoyable film but it felt a little hollow and predictable.

It beautifully captures the Southern culture of Texas and the uniqueness of from the candy paint to the music used for the Maya Angelou's phenomenal woman. Nicole Beharie and Alexis Chikaeze really make this film. They make this story of Black Girlhood one to watch. The story of Turquoise is well written without having to show all the things she went through explicitly. Chikaeze really brings home the role of Kai,as Beharie does Turquoise. Under the direction and the writing of Channing Godfrey Peoples this film comes together beautifully.
