  The curse of the village is terrifying in concept only. The movie is too tame to indulge the messed up side. All other elements are by-the-book horror conventions that do nothing new. I feel the tunnel is forgotten about in parts of the movie. I wanted to like this, but it just wasn't interesting.

  I appreciate this movie for starting the series, and the eye horror at the end was very good & gross.

  The movie feels held back by its budget, as a lot of the experiments seemed like they were making them up as they go.

  There is a single scene of them pulling out one of her finger nails. And that is it. Just one. The scene stops as soon as they yank it out. It feels a bit strange.
