The Substance 2024
Body horror is a genre that easily finds itself on the tacky and one-dimensional side of the table. The potential in exploring concepts through this medium can often be diluted with seemingly self-fulfilling close up shots of gore and technical execution. I personally find this genre performing best on an illustrated medium as opposed to it being a contest of realism. Franken Fran, I recommend.
