  Hugh Grant quoting Jar Jar Binks is one of the greatest cinematic moments in the A24 canon.

  I really dug the first half, but the film falls apart once the protagonists descend into the basement and the plot abruptly and inorganically becomes 3X as complex.

  Similarly to other films in the Czechoslovakian film movement of the ‘60s and ‘70s like Daisies (1966, Vêra Chytilová) and Valerie and Her Week of Wonders (1970, Jaromil Jireš)- both of which Killing the Devil director/screenwriter Ester Krumbachová also had a hand in- Killing the Devil is a celebration of the absurd, the grotesque (particularly in regards to oral consumption), and rebellious femininity.
