  honestly magnificent but i DO wish there weren't a voiceover. the quality of celia johnson's emotionality is so striking, so legible, the shots so beautifully and thoughtfully composed, one doesn't really need her explaining the whole affair. but god what a film.

  saorise ronan is luminous and the production design is riveting. but as much as i enjoyed the movie whilst we watched it i can't say as i expect it will really stick with me—a bit of a nothingburger in the end eh

  i honestly really liked this movie and found it really affecting and wrenching! it's a take on the amanda knox thing but it's really about fathers and daughters, heritage, trauma, class, what we carry with us..........................ft. a particularly poignant turn from matt damon and a really stellar performance from a child actor. i feel like it was critically kind of dismissed or at least it didn't make much of a noise but it worked for me. plus matt damon always goes on bill simmons's pod to promote his movies and what can i say i enjoy their convos!! just 2 boston guys being bros!!
