Set and production are top notch. The score is sublime! Supporting cast does well. But the charmless, too modern Lizzie and the wooden and increasing dull Darcy, make this a hard watch. Biggest ick: Lizzie’s brown dress with the white collar.

Pride and Prejudice 1995
Subtlety, humor, and character development. Jennifer Ehle’s Lizzie is irrepressible charm and wit. THE iconic dip in the lake that may have started BookTok. The runtime gives the characters and story room to breathe. It is dated, and production does not match a Hollywood film. But, good writing, acted well, brings me back.
