honestly is just the most compelling screening, that i've seen at this year's festival. an authentic view of economic instability in the american rural life, something that’s both haunting and mesmerizing. Kate's directing masterfully blurred the line between fiction and reality, leaving me questioning whether i'm watching a scripted narrative or a deeply immersive documentary. this film really did stand out from the others, and im happy that it won the NEXT audience awards. Tabatha really did show some real cowgirl shit, and i'm here for it 😭

don't know what the director wanted me to feel about the patrons at a bar, being in complete silence, flailing about in vr headsets. not sure if stifled laughter was intended. also, there were no Loona or animé avatars asking for his age and date of birth; for shame 😭

so, they only have two police personnel in the entire city of san diego, for the armed individuals? ok

I guess, you have to move the plot along, somehow

It's not a horror in a traditional sense

Went to an early Q&A showing. Jane Schoenbrun is a lovely person. And this is a movie that I should be super into. I love the soundtrack, atmosphere/tone. Everything is there for me. But the story was created around the same allegory as World's Fair, but something feels off. A lot of the themes were overtly explained in a monologue or a fourth wall breaking sequence, instead of having things being done…
