    Titus

There is a far heavier weight to death in Titus than other Shakespeare pieces, at least from my perspective, and Julie Taymor delivers quite stunningly. While some of the attempts at the surreal effects haven't aged particularly well, the set and costume design are still quite brilliant, as is the costume design.

Harry Lennix is an absolute force in Titus, as is Hopkins of course, and Lange as well. But I'll be damned if Lennix didn't steal every scene he…

    ★★★

I had written a review for this but, for whatever reason, the draft didn't save, so I'm going to attempt to piece together my thoughts again almost a week later.

I think what Scott Cooper has done here, direction-wise, is pretty good and Masanobu Takayanagi has done an excellent job capturing frames and scenes that evoke certain emotions. Where is the dislike feature on Letterboxd?

This is one of the biggest wastes of time that I have ever had the misfortune of viewing. James Cameron should have left well enough alone. Every scene feels like it was written by a 10 year old that is obsessed with the original Avatar but doesn’t understand that any sequel ideas they have are complete dogshit equivalent to comically cringey fanfics.

The dialogue is stilted and entirely laughable in some scenes, the…

    Everybody Wants Some!!

    ★★★★★

Genuinely one of my favorite films of all time. Richard Linklater has such a knack for creating a coming-of-age vibe that permeates his films and this is no exception. Probably something to do with me being a millenial as well but Everybody Wants Some!! resonates far more with me than Dazed and Confused does, and that's not to say that Dazed and Confused is bad by any means.

Plus, it's sort of centered around baseball, and all the actors had to actually take "classes" about how to play their positions, which is just fantastic. How can you go wrong with a baseball movie? 🥲
