i thought this was masterful! it covered a ton of philosophical ground while remaining totally accessible. funny and dark and frankly? kinda woke 😏

Beautiful, full of heart, silly, soulful, a perspective of this city rarely highlighted, totally inspiring in its dogged insistence on its own existence. To me this is art that truly matters.
Fantasy and the filmmakers were at this screening and mentioned the total budget for this film was $3,800. The integrity of that fact alone is awe inspiring to me, and also a little mind-boggling in a city seemingly overflowing with money. Guess it all just flows in closed loops…
sort of just typical college town art brats, sort of about a mini cult leader. i guess that's the cynical take. the other side is this is a film about community and the human spirit in the face of untethered, rapacious greed. some of the movie was a little clunky but it never lasted long, and overall i just think everyone should do what these kids did. plus bonus early footage of lightning bolt.
lacks the new yorkness of the original, but makes up for it with kind of an LA vibe
way funnier than i expected! quick summary if you're on the fence; basically three hours of scrotus, rizzdale, octoboss and the rest of the gang just goin hog wild
i mean this shit just absolutely slaps. my suggestion to you: pull up a chair, kick your feet up, and watch 30 glorious minutes of cajun people cooking while talking about cooking. interspersed with footage of people playing fiddle and accordion and guitar and whatnot. shit man, thats good stuff.
not one but two rammstein songs in your movie is certified sicko mode
Just seems silly to comment much here. Masterful, etc. Pink, blue; red, black. Interiors, first-person hallway shots. Type of shit you could write a dissertation on
I kinda think this movie should be about 7 hours long and include way more details on life inside maximum security manhattan. culture, rhythm, challenges, etc
more like a commercial than a movie but great for something to have on in the background while you're working on something else!
There's about 12 minutes in here where Fred Cole is being 'interviewed' by some like 21 y.o. kid after a show and the kid is so obnoxious/drunk, asking questions and then talking over Fred's answer, interrupting him, just being an annoying kinda aggro jerk who clearly knows absolutely nothing about him whatsoever, and Fred is so friendly and gracious the entire time, making eye contact, listening intently, just being completely present for the whole thing and doesn't show even a trace of frustration or annoyance, just genuinely seems to enjoy the entire interaction. I thought that was cool as hell.
