Connor Yates Pro

Been enjoying movies very much since about 1999. Used to be snooty, but lately, I'm trying to be more omnivorous 🤷‍♂️

CGI sequence of satellite over Virginia. Quick zoom jump cuts to a park. Voyeur angles on will smith

Now, can you rotate that image 70°? OK now zoom in 30% and enhance. .. Haha! We got you, you son of a bitch!

If you like stuff like that, this is the movie for you. Just unrelenting in its nineties-ness.

Happy Hour plays like an epic poem; an ode to friendship in your 30s when it all gets weird. It's an acknowledgement that we keep growing, learning how to listen to ourselves and how to express ourselves. Narratively structured around four women who are all struggling with similar themes, but each at their own pace. Hamuguchi takes a staggeringly methodical approach to shed light onto a certain time for a group of friends and their extended, often overlapping, lives. Their trials echo and mirror; learning about themselves while listening to each other.

Zany, fun, and heartfelt. I had no clue what to expect going into this movie and came out with a belly full of laughs, a zest to get back to southern France, and heart that feels seen. Audrey's last act meeting David and wrestling with the paradox of love and marriage is chef's kiss writing and editing. The good memories will always feel good; making it increasingly difficult to know when something is truly over, even when the answer is as clear as a sunny day on the beaches of Menton

Pretty by the numbers historical drama/thriller, with Frankenheimer steady as ever behind the wheel. Long hair hippy Kyle at the start really made me giggle. Clarence Williams III is one of the most intense presences I've ever seen

Long live shape shifting raccoons. The spectre parade is really something to see and the last act had me in tears. The comedy hit hard for me. Just overall great time although sad at times too

A charming and poignant character study of a father trying to understand and respect his son's grave decisions. Tavernier paints a loving portrait of Lyon and a handful of its inhabitants. Excited to see what else he has to offer!
