A historical drama revolving around priests bringing Christianity to Japan and the persecution that followed. Such a great movie. Could have been a masterpiece with some better character development (yes I think it should be longer than it’s already 2 and a half hour running time).

The Fountain 2006
I started thinking about this movie with everything that has been going on around us. It’s probably one of the better love stories released in the 2000s. It’s not a perfect movie that’s for sure. Not all of it works. It can be a little heavy-handed sometimes as well with its central message. Overall though there was just nothing like this when it was released. The beautiful gold palette of the film and the three story-lines. It was really amazing and I think it really holds up today.

The Best of Youth 2003
I hardly ever log older films that I end up watching but this was absolutely amazing. This is probably the only extremely long movie I've seen that never had me bored once. Six hours long and it flew by pretty quickly, this was not Shoah or Satantango. I felt so much for the characters as if I had known them my entire life. If you want to make it easier just watch two hours a night three nights in a row on Netflix I promise it is worth it. This is an epic Italian film that will stick with you for a long time.
