Simply one of the most human and brutal war films of all time. The director, Elem Klimov was an adolescent boy during the civilian evacuation of Stalingrad in WWII, much the same age of the main character in this film. Come and See has a powerful first person perspective on the chaos, mundane inhumanity and psychological affects of war.
