The Day the Earth Caught Fire 1961
I've two soft spots: one for films about newspapermen, another for the end of the world. TDTWCF felt like a real pints-and-all look inside a pre-internet newsroom spiraling toward armageddon. Thoroughly enjoyed the lead performances, especially the repartie of their brief courtship.

Humoresque 1946
Watched on Criterion's method acting playlist. Decent film. You can see the actors and cinematographers jumping over the line to modernity almost mid-film. Upon applying a little pressure, the film breaks neatly into two pieces: before Joan Crawford and after Joan Crawford. Like possibility multiplying the first time you hear a minor note. Heavy rainfall that damages a bird's wings. A diamond.
