Unfortunately, this film feels like a misstep, especially considering the original reportage/photo project has such a wild story behind it. From the inappropriate voice acting to the absence of meaningful narration, this film doesn't add anything of worth to the photo part of the project. That said, the story behind the original reportage and the subsequent events it caused are interesting and worth checking out. Here, any kind of nuance and complexity of the story is gone.

In its visual vocabulary this bears many similarities to the book Please Notify the Sun by Stephen Gill, where he photographed a single fish over the course of a couple of weeks, with the idea, that the fish could contain a completely separate universe - which he managed to explore using macro photography with tools like microscopes etc. It's a nice look into how much scale can transform the perspective on things and the world around us. Wonderful movement between macro and micro, city and nature, with a slight touch of magic found in the mundane, not unlike the director's previous feature (Ghost Tropic). All of that is underlined by a beautifully warm ending and very cool closing credits, that put the director's ego aside and acknowledge the film as a team effort and human experience.
