  Man, I fuckin love Kubrick. This sick, twisted, perverse man just directs the shit out of everything he touches. King can go and do some more coke and beat his kids for all I care, cause this is miles better than the book. I love the subtle nods to themes of sexual abuse and alcoholism as opposed to King’s more overt tactics. It’s just so terrifying- especially that damn bear scene. Would’ve been five star if my queen Shelley Duvall didn’t get like emotionally abused and her career ruined.

  This is a nice film; and I think a strong debut for Gerwig. 
  I don’t think much goes on during this film, and it doesn’t really feel like it has anything special to separate it from other coming of age films. 
  I wish the dynamic with the mother was more explicitly developed; although my mother issues would probably make me explode while watching it if that were the case. 
  Could’ve been better imo

  I have not watched this film since I had read the book in primary school.
  I genuinely forgot that the cast was actually pretty packed; Sigourney Weaver, Tim Blake Nelson, Henry Winkler AND Shia Lebouf.
  Fun movie, sends me back
