Beau Is Afraid 2023
Where the heck to start…this movie was a journey, the style was playful, and it kept me theorizing for days. I love the whole approach; the movie could easily be interpreted in so many ways. Was he mentally stable? Was he psychologically abused by his mother? Was he heavily medicated most of his life? Super impressed by the whole creative expression of this film, curious what the next project from this filmmaker will look like! Until then this was a great watch!

I enjoyed this film, but it was a slow burner that seemed much longer than it was. I thought it was interesting watching the contrast of two relationships in parallel. As the parents struggled, a new relationship blossomed between the son and Grandmother. “Grandma how does pee taste?” 😂
