Alan Rickman is so good as the sheriff of Nottingham. He deserved that BAFTA. I want to move to England.
This movie gives me the creeps but it’s good. Not a feel good movie but Michael Clayton is ruthless. The movie unfolds in a kinda bizarre way that’s hard to follow but you eventually piece everything together. The scene where Arthur is dispatched is scary af.
Retroactively writing a quick review because I had a really thought-provoking discussion about it recently. I loved that this film was like an onion, and the more you grapple with it cerebrally, the more layers there were to consider, both about Justin and James's respective guilt, and about the question of "what is justice". I also think the movie is a rather poignant commentary on the way the justice system, comprised of supposedly your peers, is quite broken. Imo this is a good movie to analyze and have a good conversation about.
Had a good time and many laughs! This was an absolutely delightful movie, offset only by the fact that later that night I promptly dreamt that Mr. Collins had burst out of the woods chasing me and some friends whilst we were camping, demanding to marry one of us. Binge-read the book after watching the movie and I appreciate the screenwriters honored the original prose.
