We got about 25 minutes in and hadn't laughed once, so we turned it off. It felt like watching an actor's workshop that was all ad-libbed. Even the best actors need a good script. This didn't seem to have one.
First movie I've seen in the theaters since the beginning of the pandemic, and it did not disappoint. Yes, it's a bit long but I think they wanted to fully flesh her out as a complex character and not just leave it at "she's a crazy villain", and honestly, I enjoyed every minute of it. Acting is sublime. It always surprises me when extremely recognizable actors can convince me they ARE their character after only a few scenes. If I meet either Emma's in a dark alley, I will be watching my back.
Super cute movie but boy do they hurry and wrap it up at the end with no real logical resolution. Ha ha!
I don't get it. Was this just a dramatic vehicle to feature Soairse Ronan by having her play every rebellious catholic school girl stereotype? Every scene felt like a cliche. Good actors can act using the phone book, but that doesn't mean they should. It's just not interesting.
