  Fantastic movie, which is about (as the title suggests) a family. While many have commented on Michelle William's performance, (deservedly, she's great) Paul Dano deserves a massive applause for his role. It's a far more understated performance, but comes off as 100% genuine. In fact earnest and genuine are two great descriptions of this movie.

  While a lot of the film draws the connection between Sam and his mom; at the end you also see the connection and similarities he shares with his father. In a lot of ways this film feels like a huge salute to his Dad without over doing it.
