oh my god man. this is the hardest i've laughed at a movie in so long. none of these characters have a single ounce of common sense and its the absolute funniest thing in the world. the "story" is so nonsensical and out there that i ended up loving it. this is all just me loving irony, though. the real truth is that the stunts in this movie are unmatched. i guarantee every actor and actress in this movie was injured on set in some way. genuinely insane to watch some of these crazy over-the-top stunts/choreographed fight scenes today. so so so worth your time
particularly soul-crushing in a way most things i watch aren't. made me feel a lot of things i haven't felt in a while. last line was -0.5 stars though
The Wind Rises is, and forever will be, my favorite animated film of all time. The way that Miyazaki was able to portray his character's intentions, comment on war, death, love, etc., and make sure it was visually appealing is truly magical. The writing is impeccable, with dialogue that's both realistic and hopeful. The animation is gorgeous. Everything about this film is stunning.
