The darkest entry in a dark sequence of films for Daniel Craig's James Bond. Javier Bardem's Silva is excellent as the story's villain, and his character's plot to take revenge on M lends a refreshing degree of personal stakes for Bond this go around. He's not saving the world so much as trying to save his Mother. That being said, Silva's master-mind plot to break the cover of MI6 agents stationed around the world ostensibly works to absolute completion, so with the addition of M's death this mission was definitely not the best result for the good guys.
Impossibly intense, brutal. An anxiety inducing train wreck of a story with an impressively sympathetic Adam Sandler.
So choppily edited as to be nearly illegible. Even some great espionage-isms are hidden under superfluous camera cutting that turn the usual ultra-coy Bond personas into impossibly opaque hand gestures.
There is such great possibility wasted here in the opportunity to uncover a mysterious dark agency that has so completely infiltrated world governments and intelligence agencies that Bond / M / Felix / Q all can't trust each other.
A bombastic finale and a satisfying end to Olga Kurylenko's revenge…
