“Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it”

Some films don’t just tell a story; they flow through you. This is one of those films - perfect, unrushed, and quietly powerful. The beauty isn’t just in the golden cinematography of the Montana landscapes (even though, wowwww, those are fucking amazing). It’s in the way the film feels real, honest, like a memory that belongs to all of us, even if we’ve never fished in our lives. Redford’s narration is poetry, the performances effortless, and strengthens the sense of love and the unspoken weight of family.

As I sat down to watch Moneyball for the third and final time this year, I glanced at the poster on my bedroom wall and honestly felt a little emotional. It made me remember just how powerful filmmaking and storytelling can be. Films connect with all different types of people for so many different reasons. This is my favorite sports movie, and in my opinion, the best. The scenes with his daughter always melt my heart. It’s a thought-provoking and…

Been feeling like shit and I have broken my personal record for most sneezes in a day - so I needed something fun, easy, and comforting to watch. I ended up watching this cinematic masterpiece, featuring one of the greatest characters ever written… Don Carlton. This film is the reason I went to university in the first place - but now, it’s making me consider dropping out and enrolling in scare school instead.

    Ace Ventura: Pet Detective

This doesn’t hold up too well, but it’s still mildly entertaining. Ace Ventura has to be one of the most autistic characters ever written - it feels like they just let Jim Carrey do whatever he wanted, and this was the result. It’s quite impressive that he can deliver this kind of performance, but it’s too much. The saving grace of the film is 90s Courteney Cox.

A raw and gripping look at life in the hood, with a strong sense of realism. The opening sequence is fantastic, while it also delivers a powerful and devastating conclusion. Well executed and stands out as a defining film in this genre.

Let me start by saying that, despite all the great things I’m about to say, it’s simply unacceptable to make a film this good and have Take That leading the soundtrack. Utter shite.

However, that being said, the rest of it is pretty sensational. Effortlessly shifts from hilarious comedy to pure chaos - it’s staggering how well they pull it off. Serious range. Mikey Madison is exceptional, she completely deserved Best Actress - what a star. The whole Russian ensemble…
