  It’s got the strength of a classic 80s action flick with the one liners and over the top action. If that were all it had, I’d actually give this movie a higher rating. Unfortunately it has a sort of identity crisis and doesn’t know where to plant its roots.   Having grown up on Adam Sandler slapstick comedies, it’s been refreshing seeing him mature in his selection of roles. This might be the furthest he’s ever stepped and I think it was a decent showing for his acting chops. A story of a man, floating alone in space with nothing but his thoughts (or so we initially believe). Grief over who we are and how we became that person is the ever present theme.   I am unsure if Millie Bobby Brown is actually a bad actress, or given a crap product to work with. (She’s believable in Stranger Things, but is also given less than a page’s worth of dialog throughout the series). The story is woefully predictable.
