Within the first 20 minutes of this film I was already pretty uncomfortable with the depiction of women in the story, but the cinematography was pretty and the setup interesting enough that I was intrigued to see where it went. But wow was that fucking terrible. No amount of highly stylised action sequences and revenge mystery could distract from how degradingly misogynistic this film was. I guessed the twist as soon as the characters were introduced but wrote it off…
Good story, reallyyyyyy concerning age gap. The romance is understated and Satou’s character never really does anything untoward so I’m just going to see it as an unrequited teenage crush otherwise this would make me uncomfortable. It’s the worst part of the story but overall I really liked it. I love movies with talking cats even if this one was a little shit.
Went to watch the restored 4k version of this at the bfi and I liked it a lot more than I did the first time I saw it sitting on my coach pirating it off a dodgy website. Would have liked it even more if I wasn’t fighting sleep the whole time.
All the songs sucked and boy groups are evil, that was just a documentary.
I kind of get her because I also love to shop, but wow was her friend the most insanely patient person ever.
Nothing more disappointing than when a movie that has the perfect set up to be something you would typically really enjoy and is just so meh. Couldn’t hold my attention despite being so vibrant. I just felt bad for Mira the whole time, it’s crazy she’s being painted as annoying and overbearing because she’s upset her fiancé is trying his absolute hardest to cheat on her.
That was so adorable, never knew a dog and a robot dancing to September by Earth wind and fire could be so emotional.
A good exploration of how complicated navigating romantic relationships can be, and if your take away from it is that Summer was the villain then you’re just a misogynist.
Another movie where Adam Sandler is playing a loser but this one isn’t funny, he’s just kind of pathetic with serious unresolved anger issues and dumb enough to give away all his personal details for phone sex. And it’s supposed to be a romance but I could not tell you why the love interest even liked him because she doesn’t have a personality at all. That fucking sucked.
This shit was so stupid, why are you trying to murder your substitute teacher bro just go to class.
